‘Tell Me What I Need To Do’ is the latest single from Jack Kane, a Hertfordshire-based newcomer with bags of potential. It’s an emotive, nostalgic tune that allows Kane to deliver hugely personal, exploratory lyrics over his subtle acoustic guitar. He has nailed the pop formula, allowing the track to ebb and flow with subtle textural inflections, keeping things interesting without going over the top. “This song is about letting someone know you’re going to be there for them,” he explains. “Maybe you’re not capable of fixing all their problems, but you’re going to try your best. I think a lot of the time when you’re going through something, knowing there is someone on your side fighting with you can take so much of the edge off.” Keep an eye out for Jack Kane as he plays two London dates over the next couple of months. -Dan Peeke
